Salem International University hosted Penn State Behrend and Gannon University last weekend.
The Tigers took on the Penn State for the first game of the season. Salem Tigers hung tough throughout the match. After a tough first quarter it was 0-5 Penn State. Penn State held on and cruised to an 8-4 half time lead. The last quarter was highlight of the Game for Salem. They won the quarter 3-1 but couldn’t score enough. Sanchez with two goals was leading scorer for Salem. Matei and Martin got one each. The final score was 14 – 4 for Penn State Behrend.
The second game of the day brought Gannon University in the pool. First half of the game was well played by Gannon to hold Salem on 4-0 at half time. Tigers won in the second half 5-3 to make final score 7-5 for Gannon. The leading scorer for Salem was Sanchez with 3 goals. Martin and Finch scored one each. Sanchez is the leading scorer of the team with 5 goals in 2 games.
09/27-09/28 2008
Salem Tigers traveled to Lake Erie. It was rough weekend for the team since they played 3 games in 2 days. Penn State Behrend and Gannon got easy victories against Salem on Saturday. On Sunday, Salem had its closest game of the season. Mercyhurst, ranked 8 in the nation, almost got upset as the gamed ended with a 7-6 score. Tigers tied twice in fourth quarter 5-5 and 6-6 with 35 seconds to go. Winning goal for the Lakers happened 15 second before the final whistle. In last position, leading scorer Sanchez had a chance but the post stoped the Tigers to tie one more time.
