Dr. Jerry McNamee


Jerry (class of 1961) came to Salem College and earned a full football scholarship. He also worked in the cafeteria kitchen to earn his meals. He graduated in 3.5 years. He started as offensive guard for 3 years and earned one spot on the WVIAC All Conference teams. He was a very active officer in the Varsity S Club, and was a member f the Yanks, Circle K, and voted into the Who’s Who.
He left Salem College to earn his Masters Degree from Ohio State University in counseling and testing. He returned to Salem as an assistant coach, dean of men and head of residences. He then left to earn his Ph.D in counseling from Ohio State University. Jerry then taught and counseled in the Akron city schools.
He worked for Xerox Learning Systems and then started and continues to run his own consulting company in addition to being a senior counselor in the Las Vegas , Nevada Public Schools. Jerry is currently taking adult education classes on writing novels. In addition, he volunteers for charities like the march of dimes and he voluntarily counsels for charity, Jerry is also a founding member of the Salem College Football Alumni Association.
