Walter F. "Rocky" Martin

 

Martin Graduated from Salem College in 1977, with a degree in Physical Education and Safety Education. He played varsity football four years and was named All Conference Defensive Player (WVIAC) of the year in 1975 with 15 quarterback sacks. He was listed as an All American his senior year in 1976.

Martin played semi-pro for the Red Raiders, a team in the Clarksburg-Bridgeport area in the '70s. He remains a member of the Salem College Football and Cheerleaders Alumni Association. In November of '77, Martin entered the West Virginia State Police Academy and graduated that spring. He served as a Trooper for the WV state police for more than 10 years and was in charge of security for a celebration of West Virginia's Promise when Colin Powell, then Head of America's Promise, was speaker.

Currently Martin Serves in the West Virginia Court of Claims Office at the state capitol in CHarleston as a Claims Investigator for the WV Crime Victim's Fund. He is an advocate fo crime victims and is a frequent lecturer at the State Police Academy. In addition, he is a regular presenter at seminars across West Virginia regarding the Crime Victims Fund.
