Seniors win their last home game.

Saturday, April 26 th, 2008, the class of 2008 graduated, and for some of them, it meant time to rejoice with family and friends, but for others it meant baseball. After graduation on Saturday, the Tigers baseball team left the gym, got in there cars, and went to the field to play Bluefield State and split with them. These games were the last games for 7 guys. Mo Mathey, Scott Toothman, Josh Nutt, Zach Cuozzo, Andrew Bell, Allan Martinez, and Jamie Shoemaker. The first game did not go so well, but the second game was perfect, as if it were meant to be. The Tigers were on their game and played very well, beating Bluefield 5 to 2. Kevin Demattos pitched an excellent game, going 5 innings, only giving up 4 hits but striking out 7 and only giving up 2 runs. Michele Velasquez came into the game in the 6 th to finish them off.

Baseball was not the only team that had games this weekend; Softball also had 2 vs. Bluefield on Sunday, and they also had some athletes graduate. Wes Leffler, Sam Gould, Kyanna Cape, and Lakeisha Bowsman. In the first game, the Tigers beat Bluefield 8 to 1 and the second game 8 to 1.

Both teams played very well, but you could tell that the seniors had a little extra something in their step these last home games.
