There is nothing better than sitting at the ballfield eating some seeds and watching baseball. On Wednesday, April 9 th, the Salem baseball team went to Charleston to take on Charleston University. Charleston plays on the Appalachian Power single A baseball field, so it is the game that everyone wants to go to, and everyone wants to play in. There must be something about playing on a minor league field because the Salem boys were hitting the baseball very well. In the first game, the Tigers put up 10 runs on 13 hits. However it was not enough because Charleston scored 11 to win the game. There were some big hitters in this game with Scott Toothman going 4 for 5with a double and 3 singles. Also, Andrew Bell had a good game; he hit a huge home run in the 6 th inning and singled and walked twice. The second game was a different story. The Tigers wanted a win, and they got one. They beat Charleston 12 to 5. In this game, the bats were hot. Hector Sanchez had 3 singles. Ryan Hannon hit a double, a single, and a monster grand slam to put the Tigers up 12. Both games were very exciting. The Tigers’ next games are on Saturday and Sunday at West Liberty State.
