Tuesday, April 7 th, the Salem International University Softball team took on The University of Charleston in Salem. In game 1, the Tigers lost 4 to 1. In the second game, the Tigers came out strong. a bench player, Amber Russel, had a great game for coach Szabo, hitting a home run and a single. Russel’s home run put the Tigers up 2 to nothing in the first inning. Salem’s defense was wonderful the left side of the infield. The rest of the of the Tigers did a great job on defense keeping Charleston from scoring any runs. The Tigers did not stop with Russel’s home run. Alicia Potts also had a 2 run home run to put the Tigers up 4 to nothing in the 4 th, an the tigers would score 2 more in that inning. The Final score was 6 to 0. Pitching in both games was Kyanna Cape. The Tigers next game is at home vs. Fairmont State at 1pm.
