Dave F. Christie


Dave Christie transferred from Marshall University in 1958 and attended Salem on a basketball scholarship until he graduated in 1961. Dave a Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities, totaled 1395 points in his three year career at Salem. In 1960-61, he ranked 25th in total scoring in NAIA, ranked 4th in total scoring in the WVIAC, ranked 6th as the all-time scorer at Salem College and was named WVIAC All-Conference 1st team. Only 8 players were selected from 15 teams.
  After graduating from Salem, he graduated from WVU with a Master’s in Education. He went on to coach 23 years at various high schools in Ohio. Compiling a 299-161 record, 26-1 in a single season, he was a 6 time coach of the year. Dave won six leage championships, six sectional championships, one district championship, on regional championship and one state runner-up. He started Christie Financial Services in 1988 after retiring from teaching and coaching. Sold his business in 2005 and retired.

He currently resides in Oak Harbor, Ohio. He has three children. Dani boss is employed by the State of Ohio Economic Development Dept. and has two children. Dan Christie is a stock broker and has four children. Don Christie is the assistant principal and athletic director at Oak Harbor Middle School and has three children.
