SPORTS PROGRAMS; ANNOUNCES NEW SPORTS COMPLEX

SALEM, WV. –SALEM, WV--Salem International University (SIU) today announced the reorganization and enhancement of its athletic programs to provide SIU’s student-athletes with the equipment, facilities, coaching and support staff that is required for success in the competitive West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) and NCAA Division II.  The University also announced plans for a new multi-sports complex on campus.

Salem International University is proud to announce the hiring of their new Head Athletic Trainer Joseph D Shaffer, MS, and ATC. Joseph came to SIU from Physiotherapy Associates, where he worked with Purchase Line High School and Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus.

SIU Soccer Goaltender Sets NCAA Div II Record as Statistical leader for 2008 Season

Leonardo Tillemont finished the 2008 soccer season leading the nation in saves per game with a 13.40. Leonardo recorded 134 saves in his 10--game season. Tigers Baseball had a busy weekend as they took on Davis & Elkins College in a four game series. Davis and Elkins won three- out of the four games.

The Pfeiffer University Falcons swept the Tigers of Salem International University in the opening weekend of their season.  The Falcons shut out the visitors in this three game non-conference series.
